Santa Clarita is Los Angeles County's third-largest city, and California's 23rd largest. It has a population of more than 205,000. It is located about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, and covers much of the northwestern Los Angeles County's Santa Clarita Valley. The Golden State Freeway (I-5) crosses Santa Clarita to the west. The Antelope Valley Freeway cuts across an unusual east boundary to the northeast southwest, and Newhall Pass is the southernmost point of the area. All Six Flags theme park and Stevenson Ranch are widely connected to Santa Clarita. But each one is situated west of Interstate 5, and thus neither is within the city of Santa Clarita.
