Odessa?is a town in and the county seat of Ector County, Texas, USA. This is mainly based in Ector County. Population in Odessa is over 120,000. Odessa is said to have been named after Odessa, Ukraine, due to the similarity of the nearby short grass prairie with the steppe landscape of Ukraine. Odessa is located in western Texas along the southwestern edge of the Llano Estacado. It is located above the Permian Basin, a large sedimentary deposit which contains important oil and natural gas reserves. There is a total area of 44 square miles in the city.
