Hialeah is a town in Miami-Dade County, United States, Florida. Hialeah is the sixth-largest city in Florida, with a population of 238,942 at the 2018 United States Census. It is a key city of the metropolitan area of Miami, which at the 2018 census was home to an estimated 6,198,782 residents. Hialeah also has one of the country's most diverse Spanish-speaking populations. Residents spoke Spanish at home, and the language is an significant part of daily life in the region. The name of the town is most commonly attributed to Muskogee roots, "Haiyakpo" (prairie) and "hili" (lovely) combining in "Hialeah" to mean "lovely prairie".
