Fort Myers, or just Ft. Myers, is the county seat and the Lee County, Florida, United States, commercial hub. Fort Myers is a gateway to Florida's southwest and a major tourist destination within Florida. The Thomas Edison and Henry Ford winter estates are big attractions. The town is named after Colonel Abraham Myers, Confederate States Army quartermaster general. Two local airports serve the Fort Myers metropolitan area.
