Tempe, is a city with a population of over 190,000 in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The city is named after Vale of Tempe in Greece. Tempe is located in the Phoenix metropolitan area of the East Valley; it is bordered on the west by Phoenix and Guadalupe, on the north by Scottsdale and the Pima Maricopa Indian Group of the Salt River, on the south by Chandler and on the east by Mesa. T? is also the site of Arizona State University's main campus. The town area of Tempe is 40 square miles. Tempe is an inner suburb, situated between Phoenix's central city and the rest of the East Valley. Tempe Town Lake is home to several national and international events, including the Ironman Arizona and Rock n Roll Marathons.
