In Contra Costa County, California, Concord is the largest city. The city has a population of over 122,000 which made it the 8th largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area. Created by Salvio Pacheco in 1869 as the community of Todos Santos, the name was changed to Concord within months. The city is a big East Bay suburban hub in the San Francisco Bay Area, 18 miles east of San Francisco. Concord is host to the annual Concord Jazz Festival and was host to the jazz record label Concord Records until it was acquired in 1999. For the last forty years, Concord has been predominantly a residential community for San Francisco and Oakland, but employment within the city have risen over the last decades.
